The ELSNER 70698 sensor, model Sewi KNX TH L-Pr, is a multifunctional device designed to detect and measure various indoor environmental parameters, including temperature, humidity, brightness and presence.

General Characteristics

The sensor is made of plastic and available in two colors: white similar to RAL 9003 signal white (borders) and white RAL 9002 gray (cover), and RAL 9005 jet black. It can be installed on the wall, on the ceiling or on the surface.

The dimensions of the sensor are approximately 105 mm in diameter and 32 mm in height, with a weight between 45 and 80 grams. The degree of protection is IP 30.

Environmental Conditions

The sensor can operate in a range of ambient humidity from 5% to 95% RH, not condensing.

Measurement Functionality

Temperature

Temperature measurement is possible in the range from -20°C to +60°C.

Humidity

The measurement of relative humidity is possible in the range from 0% to 95% RH.

Brightness

The luminosity measurement is possible in the range from 0 to 2,000 lux, with the possibility of measuring and outputting higher values.

Presence

The presence is detected using the passive infrared (PIR) method, with a coverage angle of about 94° × 82° and a range of about 5 meters.

Integration with the KNX Bus

The sensor uses the KNX TP1-256 medium and operates in S-Mode mode. It supports up to 2,000 group addresses and 2,000 assignments. The nominal voltage is 30 V DC SELV, with a maximum current consumption of 10-20 mA. The connection is made via KNX terminals.

After the bus voltage is restored, the sensor takes about 5 seconds to receive the data.

Control Functionality

The sensor includes a PI controller for heating and cooling systems, with the possibility of one or two phase adjustment. In addition, it offers summer compensation for cooling systems, adapting the temperature set in the room to the outside temperature and setting the minimum and maximum target temperature values.

The measured values can be used to control limit-dependent switches, and the states can be connected via AND and OR logic gates.
