ELSNER 30147 P03/3-Modbus Modbus Weather Station with GPS Receiver

The ELSNER 30147 model, named P03/3-Modbus-GPS, is a complete weather station designed to measure and transmit meteorological data with precision and reliability.

General Characteristics

The weather station is made of plastic material, with a white and translucent color. It is designed to be mounted on a wall or on a pole, with an IP 44 protection and dimensions of approximately 96 × 77 × 118 mm (width × height × depth). The weight is about 160 grams.

Operating and Storage Temperature

The device can operate in a temperature range from -30°C to +50°C and can be stored in a range from -30°C to +70°C.

Electric Power Supply

The weather station operates with a supply voltage of 24 V DC ± 10%. You can obtain a suitable power supply unit from Elsner Elektronik. The cable cross-section can be up to 0.8 mm², with a maximum current of 80 mA and a residual wave of 10%.

Connectivity

The connection is made using screw terminals with solid conductors or thin wires up to 0.5... 1.0 mm² and a stripping length of 6 mm. The station uses the Modbus RTU protocol on an RS485 interface, with a bus load of 1/8 units according to the RS485 standard and a minimum driver performance of 2.4 V at 54 Ohms of bus load.

Sensors and Measurements

The station is equipped with several sensors to measure various meteorological parameters:

• Temperature: The temperature is measured in the range from -40°C to +80°C, with a resolution of 0.1°C and an accuracy of ±1.5°C in the range from -25°C to +80°C.
• Wind: The measurement of wind speed is possible in the range from 0 to 35 m/s, with a resolution of 0.1 m/s and an accuracy of ± 22% of the measurement value when the incident flow is between 45° and 315°, and ± 15% when the incident flow is between 90° and 270°.
• Precipitation: The precipitation sensor is heated (about 1.2 W) to avoid false reports due to fog or dew. It dries quickly after the end of the precipitation.
• Brightness: The station measures brightness with three separate sensors for east, south and west, also recognizing dawn and dusk with special filters.

GPS functionality

The 30147 model includes an integrated GPS receiver, which provides UTC (Universal Time Coordinated) signals, geographical coordinates (longitude and latitude), and position of the sun (azimuth and elevation).
