The EELECTRON IO41A01BLE sensor, also known as SPACE BLE, is an innovative device designed for integration into building automation systems based on the KNX protocol.

Main Features

This sensor combines several features for optimized environmental control, including:

• A brightness sensor for controlling ambient lighting.
• Humidity and temperature sensors with related control algorithms.
• A sound sensor that can be used in environments with parts that are not totally visible to the infrared sensor.

Sensors and Control Algorithms

The presence sensor is based on a passive infrared sensor and has 5 independent channels that can be configured with different functions, such as presence with or without brightness control and automatic or semi-automatic detection. The brightness can be managed constantly or depending on the presence, with automatic or semi-automatic activation.

Connectors and Inputs

The device includes a rear connector with 3 digital inputs that can be connected to potential-free buttons or switches and used for on/off controls, dimming, curtains or blinds, scenarios, sequences, step-by-step commands, etc. One of the inputs can be configured as analog for connecting NTC temperature probes, allowing the temperature measurement to be sent to the bus or to manage a complete thermostatic module with an integrated PI controller.

Advanced Logic and Functionality

There are 12 logical blocks available to implement simple expressions with logical or threshold operators, or complex expressions with algebraic and conditional operators. The device also integrates the “Virtual Holder Logic”, useful in hotel rooms to manage presence through a magnetic sensor installed on the door. In addition, it manages the ambient brightness based on the measured illuminance and allows the “Circadian Rhythm” logic to be activated, which imposes the brightness and color temperature based on predefined curves or the real position of the sun during the day.

BLE Technology and Usage Features

The sensor includes an antenna with BEACON BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) function compatible with iBeacon® and Eddystone® formats. This technology allows you to send messages to mobile devices, which must have an app to retrieve information from BLE beacons. The device also manages the measurement of environmental relative humidity and allows the control of humidification and dehumidification systems with thresholds and hysteresis.

Use and Applications

The sensor is designed to be installed on the ceiling and can be used in various environments, such as residential buildings, hotels and offices. The “Utilization” function allows you to map the state of the spaces and their use, while the “Occupancy” function collects useful data for managing the intensity of the occupants' activity in the monitored areas, generating a 'heat map' of the building.
