The FD805R-N detector consists of an infrared light transmitter and receiver; these devices reside inside a single compact enclosure; FD805R-N also includes a control unit to be installed at human height that represents the user interface of the system for configuring and maintaining the linear detector (dual functionality).

The detector's infrared signal is reflected by a reflector and then analyzed in order to detect the presence of smoke in the protected environment. This linear reflective smoke detector is particularly suitable for monitoring environments characterized by high heights where the installation and accessibility of point detectors may be difficult. The detector head is motorized so as to be able to maintain correct alignment even in the case of small adjustment movements or due to thermal expansion of the building. The control unit is equipped with an alarm relay output and a faulty relay output in order to allow it to be interfaced to any fire control unit. An additional FD8XXRH remote unit can be connected to each FD805R-N control unit. The FD805R-N control unit has individual and separate fault and alarm signals for both connected remote units. These outputs can be interfaced to any fire detection unit.
